Fair Harbor/Clam Pond

Clam Pond...and its a great anchorage. No currents really and the wind isnt a problem as the cove itself protects you. The local restaurant "le dock" is decent . Kismet is pretty close to walk or dink over. The views from Clam pond are beautiful. Its great to kayak around close to shore.

There might be cold outdoor shower in town but other than that you are on your own.

Not really. Once you hit the red #10 buoy you have to run south west into fair harbor/clam pond. The best way to do it the first time is to follow a ferry. there is a marker out there. essentially that marker is between red #10 and fairharbor as you head south west. That marker is private i believe.

Just checking if you made it to Clam pond. I too am thinking about going. Concerned about the shallow water and someone told me the "locals" use it as a mooring field and therefore it maybe hard to find a spot to drop an anchor.

Anybody been there lately?

Thanks
Ron

I have been there a few of times and also did a couple overnight raft-up's between there and Atlantique. If you look at Dave’s Google link and see the boat heading south, there is a pole that serves as a private marker near the shoal where the ferries know where to go. In addition you can come in from Atlantique just above the Shoal, but you need to then head south further at the marker which is a narrow channel. It is hard to explain, you need to look at the map. It has been about three years so things could have changed. See map below...

I was planning to check it out this weekend. I will see how it goes, and post the results.

Just bumping it up . Anybody been there yet this year. How is the water depth? Room for anchoring or do the locals moor there boats their?

Thanks
Ron

Well, I tried last weekend and couldn't make it. I pretty much followed the ferry route, and then turned West. Directly in front of me was the moorings. I tried to squeeze past to the North. The water ran too skinny there, so I carefully did a 360 and retreated. Maybe I would have made it if I went South of the moored boats. I may try it again after a dinghy exploration.
