I am a year round loyal tenant at this marina and always pay slip fees upfront.

The outside company who is selling me the units and installing them is telling me that my Marina will want me to pay them 10% of the installers bill.

Ex: $10,000 to the installer and $1,000 to the Marina for doing NOTHING !

ive had marinas that wanted to have me shownthem the contract and charge menthen10% as a canvas person. Some who have charged the owner for my work bill then directly and tacked on as much as 30%
But latly i dontndeal with them anymore its a pia

Tell the installer to give you a "Bill" for $100.

Previous marina did not allow any outside contractors, period. They also didn't allow owners to work on their own boats. Present marina (yacht club) allows any outside contractor/mechanic, but does require a copy of their insurance declaration page to be on file. Sensible. Owners may work on their own boat between 9-5, Monday to Friday, excluding holidays or emergency repairs. Basic safety, noise, and cleanliness rules are in effect. Again, sensible. All club boat owners must have liability and property damage insurance and a copy of the declaration page must be on file in the office. Again, sensible. Off-season, owners or contractors may work on the boats at basically any time. The cost and process to join the yacht club was a bit of a pain; but once accepted as a full member, the costs are cheaper than a marina. The club also offers help docking during the season and other family amenities, as well as friendly people of all backgrounds. Well worth the costs. Glad I moved there. Hy
