I have heard conflicting ideas on how to fill an OMC cobra lower unit. Let me first understand this process. There are two plugs one on the bottom and one at the top of the lower unit plus on the very top is a flat head screw with the dipstick. I was told to fill from the middle plug to reduce the risk of air pockets. How does the oil then get to the upper gears where the dipstick is? Can I just squeeze it out of its container into the middle plug and it will force it up there or do I need a special oil pump. I was also told to fill from the bottom plug until it comes out the top plug. This seems the right way to me but again, how does the oil make its way up to the upper gears. Pleae explain.
