firearms on board

Carry a couple of loaded flare pistols. They aren't as good as a 45 but, when pointed at their head, it will change the their mind about messing with you.

Yeah, not the greatest idea - and I say that as someone that rarely leaves the dock unarmed, and usually leaves the dock with a few other armed friends.

Flare guns have no safety, no hammer intercept, nothing between the firing pin spur on the hammer and a 209 primer but a small amount of spring tension and clear air. If you really think it's a useful defensive weapon, then rock on, Kitty, but leaving it loaded is not a great idea.

That applies to "semiautomatic flare launchers", not flare pistols like most of us have.

Article in local NY paper (NY Post) today. Car dealer from Maryland on 110 ft. sailboat with his family passing through NYC waters gets boarded by Coast Guard for safety inspection. Tells them he has firearms in safe down below. They call NYPD, and he gets arrested for possession of the guns.

The car dealer had a revolver, rifle, and two shotguns. According to the article, they were unlicensed.

NYC doesn't recognize permits from other jurisdictions, even those in NY State, unless they endorse (stamp) it. Only other exceptions are for retired police officers who are permit holders in NY State and retired from an agency in NY State (this is a state law), and those from out of state who are qualified under HR 218 (federal law).
Morale of the story: Leave it home or risk arrest in NY.

That limit already exists in NYC.

No hollow point ammo allowed in NJ is what a NJ friend of mine has told me. No hunting with rifles either, only shotguns and it takes an act of congress to get a CCW permit in NJ. As others have said, leave it at home an hope you don't need it.

http://nypost.com/2016/07/29/east-river-sailor-busted-for-carrying-unlicensed-weapons/ Is this headline correct? I thought that the individual is licensed/permitted to purchase or carry a gun, the guns are not licensed as far as I know. Am I missing something.
Also is every gun a weapon as indicated, even if it is only used for target practice or hunting?
Seems like the article may be MSM propaganda?
It is a federal law that a person can have properly stored firearms in their car while passing through any state, does this not apply to a boat passing through nyc waters? Reading the law, it appears you are not allowed to have an intermediate stop, does that include gassing up?
NYC is a sanctuary city to protect criminals from Federal agents, apparently that does not apply to legal citizens and NYC police.
