Does anyone know where on the Sassafras river they set off the fireworks? Any advice on where to anchor? Unless it's brutally hot, thinking of spending the night on the hook afterwards, probably over at '$1.98 beach' or whatever it's called. Is that close enough, or do I need to be right across the river from Skipjack, assuming they allow anchoring near the fireworks of course.

$1.98 beach is the place to be as the show is launched from the field directly across from Skipjack. Get there and anchored early... it gets crowded by noon that day. There are actually 3 shows to enjoy; the boat parade in the afternoon, the fireworks in the evening and then watch a hundred drunk boaters try to race out of the anchorage in the dark afterwards. MD DNR and local police are busy that day.

the drunk boater race is the part that has me worried. might just watch it from my friends boat at Skipjack, to avoid that whole debacle. July 4th is the one weekend I try not to leave the dock. I used to try my hardest to miss the fireworks too, but rest of the family seems to enjoy them.

We'll be rafted up in the no-wake just past $1.98 Beach Saturday mid-day through Monday mid-day, but will head back in to watch the parade and fireworks from our marina (Georgetown Yacht Basin).

Planning on going over to Duffy Creek Marina after the fireworks to hang with some friends and watch the post-fireworks ramp show, heard that's an entertaining/fun time :D
