One of the in deck fish boxes on my 2001 auquasport 28' walkaround are cracking and begining to warp. The problem I believe is that via the dock everyone jumps into the boat right on that spot. It originally started as spider cracks but now it is looking signifigantly worse. I'm concerned about the structuability of the top hatch plus it looks like hell. Can someone suggest the best way to reinforce (repair) the hatch from the inside. I know I could always purchese a new one but I dont want to go that option.

THe lid is probably cored with foam, which will flex and compress with every step. You might be ble to inject some more resin in from the underside but I dont know how long that will last.

If the lid is foam cored and you want to make it stronger, you would have to remove the foam core by cutting it out and replacing it with end grain balsa core which is stronger. You would have to relaminate the balsa core into the underside of the lid. Use the thickest balsa core the lid will allow. Quite a job and it may be cheaper to buy a new lid.
