Im heading down to Pine Island, FL come spring will most definately be doing some fishing. I am not very experienced fishing on the west side of the state, but have some experience on the east side trolling and sruf fishing. I'm looking for a rod/reel combo- something that will be all around good for everything. I plan on focusing on the flats and fishing for snook, reds, and trout. What would be a good, cheap combo that would suffice in the flats, on a skiff, and maybe even some kayak fishing, as well as bridge fishing and fishing off the docks? I have access to gear down there, but it consists of mostly long surf fishing rods, and deep trolling rods and reels. Is there a good combo to hook up good on the west side?
Also, any tips and tricks would be great. Would you reccomend casting lures? Throwing plugs? Skank baiting? Live mullet? Like I said, I have very little experience fishing the west side and the flats, so any tips and information would be appreciated. I have fished occasionaly on the west side, but not much, just enough to get my feet wet and get the thrill of fighting a good snook.
Thanks!
