While monitoring VHF 16 this afternoon, I hear a vessel calling Coast Guard Station Fire Island with some urgency. I quickly turn up the volume to hear the impending call for assistance. Kind of played out like this...
"Fire Island Coast Guard, Fire Island Coast Guard, This is the vessel XYZ"...
"Vessel XYZ, This is Fire Island Coast Guard, Over"...
"Fire Island Coast Guard, Where is the pump out boat, I called the pump out boat a couple of hours ago and they haven't come yet"...
"Vessel XYZ, you can contact the pump out boat on VHF CH 73, Over".
"Coast Guard, The pump out boat wll not answer me"
At this point, Station Fire Island stops responding. Guy keeps calling the Coast Guard and now Group Long Island Sound answers and it all starts over again.
Can't make this stuff up!
