Got up early this morning, sun out with everything frosted over. Biting cold but beautiful.....a day truly to be glad to be alive. It rememinded my of a delta trip I took last year with a buddy in mid December. We spent the whole day just meandering around, taking in the sights, burning fuel, drinking some good whisky (in moderation of course) and smoking a bunch very good cigars. At about dark, we put out the hook up on Prospect Slough, put on some Jerry Jeff Walker on the CD player and sat back and pondered life in general. In our bunks, the cabin was warm and we slept like babies. In the morning we woke up to a day just like today, frosty and clear, cold as can be but absolutely gorgeous. Not another crazy soul around for as far as you could see and very quiet. The warmer cabin gave way to cockpit decks covered with ice. I just loved it. It could have been a Courier and Ives Christmas card called "Winter on the Delta" Not much to this story other than remembering all the great times on the delta, regarless of the time of year.
