I had some water in my fuel, and after emptying out 3 water seperators, I beleive I got all the water out. I now want to change my inlet fuel filter in the carb and clean out the flame arrestor. When I went down to the boat yesterday to start her up, she started right up. After 2 minutes she died. I would move the throttle once or twice, start it up again and the same thing happened. I even raised the RPMs to approximately 3500 she would run for 3 or 4 minutes then die--(very rough). Before I start changing filters and cleaning out the arrestor, I would like to know from Members experiences, if this sounds like a Carb problem? Or can it potentially sound like it may be something more obvious ... or more complex...
*** One thing to note is that the gas in the tank is 2 years old. I emptied out the water seperator into a glass container and noticed that there is no water or debris. **** The boat ran fine the last time I used it for around 45 minutes.
This is on a 5.7L 2 BBL Carbureted Engine.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you
