Good anchor spot near middle river

We marina in middle river and usually take the family to Hart Miller or Fairlee. Sometimes drop anchor in middle river. I'm looking for a new spot to try. We usually drop anchor, put out floating chairs and let the kids play in the water. Any suggestions for another spot we should try? We love fairlee but I don't want to deal with the traffic on a holiday weekend and Hart Miller gets a little old rocking all the time.

Have you been to Still Pond? It's a few miles north of Fairlee, crowded, but not as bad as the other two places you've mentioned.
 
The entrance to Still Pond Creek is at the far eastern end of Still Pond. It is marked with daymarks, however, its helpful to understand some of the local knowledge. Specifically, as you enter the cut into Still Pond Creek keep to your far starboard side. If you feel like you can shake hands with the people on the bulkhead or touch then trees then you are in the right place. Also, once you've cleared the cut and entered the creek you'll see it open up like a lake. Do not be fooled! Stay to the south side until you've cleared the last daymark. Only then can you move across and around the creek. Most people don't realize it but there is plenty of water almost a mile and a half back. We've had boats up to 45' anchored back that far. Clean water, no nettles. (My neighbors will be pissed if they find out I'm sharing this info! ;))

The tide running through the cut is not as fast as Fairlee and not nearly as entertaining from the shore. Its really no problem as long as you stay in the marked channel,
 
We have happily anchored in the Still Pond "bay" without going in the creek (we wouldn't fit). Worton Creek, inside or outside (for us) is another option we have enjoyed; it was an easy and fun ride in the Whaler over to Fairlee from there. Pretty spots.

Mike...first hand knowledge gained about keeping to starboard heading up the creek! Didn't get into any serious trouble, and chalked it up as a lesson learned.

We made it back to the wider part of the creek, and I kept an eye out for a newer looking dock (yours?) but wasn't sure where ye might be. One thing's for sure: you have a little piece of paradise back there.

Next time we're up, I will give you some notice. Would be pleased to shake your hand and share a beverage.
 
We are pretty far back. Our dock is actually in a cove on the north side, Jacob's Cove. It's unlikely you'd head back that far unless you know the water. Let us know the next time you're in the creek and we'll certainly get together.
 
If you're in to saving a bit of gas, Sue Creek is right there at the mouth of Middle River. Nice place to anchor and swim. Does get a a little crowded at times, but if you get there a little before lunch time, you can usually find a place away from others. We stay there for the weekend frequently only because we don't feel like running across the Bay sometimes.
 
Thanks Randy. That's very helpful as we are at Bowleys so that is a simple jump across the river. Lot's of little nooks and cranny's we have made it to yet so appreciate the help.
