Happy Gloria day

I was away in college. When my dad finally got through to me he told me to buy as many chainsaws as i could and come home. Problem was that the rains and floods in pennsylvania were brutal because of Gloria. My car got flooded and totaled sitting on the student parking lot. Didnt make it home til thanksgiving. The visible damage 2 months later was still incredible.

We lost power for 8 days, trees were down everywhere and some that didn't get blown down died within a few weeks from the saltwater bath they got during the storm. We had about 9-10" of water in the house (downstairs which wasn't finished at all at the time), in comparison the water hasn't reached our house at all in any of the recent nor-easters and other storms that caused flooding. Luckily the worst of Gloria was over in about an hour, if it lingered like they seem to down south I think the damage would have been worse. My dad's boat picked up a couple scratches from a neighbor's boat that wasn't tied good and snapped the lines and drifted down the canal.

i remember going down to treasure island in seaford to check on my 28' chris craft in the eye. had to walk a long way in thigh deep water to get there. the whole yard was underwater so you had to kind of guess where the dock started and the land ended. the next day we tried to go out, didn't get far as there was no water anywhere. i was young and in adventure mode but in hindsight it was for the best, the following weekend i did get out and the amount of stuff still floating in the water was incredible.
