Having Knee Surgery Tomorrow / Friday

Brad....how you doin?

Walter, I am the master baiter.

Brad: By now the worst is over and you're on your way to recovery. Just follow the therapist's orders and recovery will come faster. During the rehab for my knee replacements we used to kid that the hospital only hired cute therapists because otherwise we'd kill the little bastards! Everything they had us do hurt, but meds and determination got us through it. Hang in there; we'll see you on the bay. Hy

Hy I chose my physical therapist place because it was on the water where I looked at the boat yard across the canal for motivation

South Bay P/T is on the water.....you can go by boat. It will be part of the theropy !

Yes Don that is them but I have a few problems first I am not allowed on a boat till August Then I finished going to P/T last week and I'm still boatless now that my leg is healing I'm in serious search mode

Well I am home and it went better than I thought. But when I woke up in recovery, the pain was great, so instead of manning up, I told them to do something quick. They did and la la land was fun for a while. Got some ok meds for home, not too strong, but this morning so far there is no more pain than before surgery at least so far, the last 325/5mg Percocet was around 2AM. I was told not to wait until they wear off (4-6 hours) because it takes a while to take effect once the pain starts. But I rather test that out and not take them all day.

I was told I could remove the immobilizer at will, that came off when I hit the kitchen back door. Crutches may be going into the closet also, I am moving around with a cane. Still have to change dressing , get stitches out and then PT. I will be going here to Bright Bay PT in Brightwaters for convenience and hear they were good. I was going to East Islip PT, but after work coming from the city it is an extra 20 minutes to get there instead of 3-5.

On boating note… When I got home my wife got the mail and my Atlantique application came. I think I am heading to the post office this morning to mail it in before the pharmacy... you know, Priorities !! ;-)

Brad......glad all went well.....good luck with recovery.....and enjoy the Perc's.....they will be your best friend for awhile..... :)

Glad to hear you are on your way to recovery and maintaining priorities thru the entire process. You'll be better than before, soon! The only problem is - what's gonna break next at our age? As long as you know what is still working, all good!

Good luck recovering. Percocet is great....but take some Senokot with stool softner.....quickly....or you'll have another problem

Brad, good luck with the rest of the recovery. Kepping repeating: "Tomorrow will be better than today" whenever things get tough. We're all in there for you. Hy

Great News :)

Wish you a speedy recovery, hope to see you on the water soon.

Walter

Brad, best wishes for a fast recovery. How long before you join me back on the LIRR merry-go-round?

Gerry

Feeling better every day, I am up and around, but still a little stiff and even putting on socks is a chore. Walking around the yard is ok, but hard on the stress level. I see everything that needs to get done and I can’t do it yet.

I just wish I knew the difference between healing pain and if it was not fixed. Going to see the Dr today. Too early to take out stitches, I guess Monday and then PT starts on Tuesday. Percs have been a good friend.. I skip the morning dose, but nice to have mid day and late evening before sleep.

......hey a little stiff can be good !!!

Glad your feelin better !
