fotwins94 asks:

I am from long island I go out of jones inlet ...I am looking forward to a couple of cruises to jersey this summer with the wife and kids. I might start with seaside heights any info would be appreciate d

rommer answered:

What size boat fotwins94?

Seaside Heights area of Barnegat bay is very shallow and not much in the way of marinas. There a few but not sure what your looking for. Also, it's a fair walk from the bay side to ocean side at Seaside Heights. Doable but more than just a few blocks.

fotwins94 responded:

31 silverton 310 express

Rob56 added:

I'd go a little further south to Beach Haven. Morrison's, Beach Haven Yacht Club (I think that's the name). You can walk to many restuarants, the beach and amusements for the kids.

fotwins94 queried

what inlet would I use ???

rommer mused:

Exit 74, no wait thats another NJ joke...

Either Barnegat Inlet and head south or Little Egg Inlet and head North. Given a choice I would take Little Egg.

dominic added:

Regardless of which inlet you use, a good rule of thumb for the first time you use any inlet new to you, is to try and plan your trip so that you are traversing the inlet as close to the high tied slack. That said, as you get closer to your decision, post and we'll help you through to your final port.

good luck,

dominic

If the Ocean is rough you can go into the Manasquan Inlet and take the Intercoastal to Beach Haven. Point Pleasant is a nice area as well. No marinas near the boardwalk but a cab ride is doable. We usually go to Pt. Pleasant every year if we can.
