Hit Log on Essex River

I was in Portland (Connecticut) today at the Portland Fair grounds which is on the Ct. River.

The river is HIGH, and the stuff floating down was logs, branches and what ever was not attached.

The water was rushing as if it was the spring freshet.

Nasty stuff and muddy water.
 
We spent the weekend at the Essex Island Marina this past weekend. On Saturday we went up river to anchor off Lord Island in East Haddam for a BBQ. It was a great weekend but I did notice many branches and logs floating in the river, I even heard the clunkety clunk of what must have been a small sunken log against my hull while I was on plane on my way back to Essex. Luckily no damage but it did startle me pretty good.
