holding tank

My holding tank is completely full(by someone else). They have been fired! I have tried to empty it. It appears that the macerator is working, but willnot dump. I heard someone say that you can reverse the wires and the pump will unclog and then reverse them back and it will work properly then. has anyone used this method??? After this the "head is off limits" Thanks for any advice, Bill.
