Relatively new boater...
I have a DP sterndrive with 2 props on my boat. One has a slight ding or two in the edges of one or two of the blades and the edges around them are a little rough. The rest of the blades look good and are in good shape. They are stainless steel props.
My question is how much of a slight ding in the prop can you allow. Is it worth taking them off and sending them out to be repaired or should I just keep going until its convenient at a service interval or similar.
Am I just loosing some performance or is there a deeper problem to having a slight ding or two in the edge of the blade?
I also have another question about the DP sterndrive. If some of the paint in a few spots is flaking a little... no rust... just a little paint coming off in spots, what do you guys do to make the drive look all nice and silvery again like it did when it was new. Is it a sand a little and spray paint it? Or do you wait until it's peeled badly and have to repaint the whole drive?
The boat is lift kept out of the water and since I see the drive all the time at our marine when walking by the "brand new" boats I sometimes get particular about a little flakey paint. Anyone have any recommendations or opinions?
Thanks again everybody!
Peter
