We're planning our first cruise up the Hudson this weekend. Our first stop is Havistraw then Kingston. Are there any points of interest we should know about? We are staying at the Rondout and heard there may be a waterfall up the creek? Any and all help or info is welcome.

The water fall is nice but you can't get there in you boat there is very low water. If you have a dink you can get almost right up to it. I will be there as well on Saturday and Sunday. Stop by and say hello.

Just enjoy the views from Bear Mountain north. West Point is a magnificant backdrop from the river, and the colors along the Hudson should be great.

Enjoy the trip.

make sure to keep the lighthouse at "middle hudson river" (no. 65) to your port.

it's a great trip. if you're not aware, the roundout is no wake and everyone gets about via dinks.

Grab dinner at Ship To Shore (http://www.shiptoshorehudsonvalley.com) - make a reservation. The seafood mac & cheese is insane!

All of the above plus the Italian festival is this coming weekend. S/B a great time. Warning: We'll probably be walking around the water front Sat. afternoon since the weather is suposed to be good.

I made my reservations today for Sat and Sun at Rondout. I'm hoping for good weather there is only one other boat coming with me the still room for more. Hope to see you guys there.

My wife still can't make up her mind to go or not. She is playing the what if game. What if it rains, what if there is nothing to keep the kids busy, what if I leave her home. The weather looks rainy Saturday and Monday. Sunday looks great. I'll hopefully be joining you guys.

What if....

what if a tornado touches down right on your boat?

what if lightning hits your boat?

what if aliens abduct you all?

what if a shark bites a hole in your boat?

What if we spend all this money on a bigger boat and then not get the most amount of use out of it?

One can only hope that happens (of course with no one on board).
