I need a new mechanical fuel pump, which one?

Napa, Advance Auto, O Rilees, Pep Boys etc. Ask for marine rated pump.
Look at all like this Airtex PM454 MARINE fuel pump I found on Amazon?
Others will weigh in on this, but I'd be very surprised if the same pump isn't used across a lot of product lines.
Unless maybe it's like the MerCruiser where the Fuel Pump is mounted on the Raw Water Pump... That might be a little trickier.
But if it's Engine Block mounted, AS LONG AS IT'S MARINE, pumps for several brands should work.

I guess my question was which pump do I need? I went to NAPA and Advance auto, they had no listing for a 1989 US Marine 454, or a 1989 Bayliner 454. Will any marine pump work on any 454 of the same year?

that pump looks upside down.
there are two basic styles. the one pictured is the rebuildable type.
when re-mounting, smear a slight bit of grease on each end and the shiny part of the 3/4 X 4 inch shaft. there's a threaded bolt hole on the front of the block that lines up with the shaft bore. thread in a 3/8-16 bolt in that hole. it's made to tighten down on the shaft to hold it from sliding out when you mount the pump. it only take a very slight amount of pressure to hold the shaft.
don't forget to remove the bolt. you can replace it with a very short bolt just to seal off that hole
