So last night I was checking my insurance policy (just got the renewal) and it states if I am in Florida from June to November I need to check with my age t as additional rates may apply. Yet .last year we had Irene and now this year Sandy. Both pretty darn close to the boat. And not any where near Florida. How long before they tack on extra for hurricanes in MD?

John,
They nailed us with rate increases after Izzy came to visit (2005?). So, if Sandy does serious damage to the baots in the Bay you will probably see the impact at your next renewal.

Mike - My rate went down almost $200 for the year. That was nearly a 20% reduction. There was also a nice note in there about "these tough economic times". My next renewal (dec 13) I fully expect a rate increase as we should have the boat slipped at Patrick AFB in FL.

edit: In fact I expect it to be double what we have now since we will not actually be living there yet.

I spent a year headquartered at Patrick when I was consulting for the DoS. Love that area. Great boating and fishing. The "beach views" from the deck at Coconuts was worth the price of lunch everyday! ;)
