issue found during sea trial

kida,

price was agreed was 35k, prior to survey
props are badly cupped as per surveyor, windlass dead and seiezed, found some spots of moisture in the hull( by the rails), severe stress fractures by the cleats, rub rail, search light not working, generator not starting so adding it all up + the other 4 pages of stuff that surveyor found this is too much of a project boat even if he was willing to sell me boat for 5k ( which he might).
I don't mind a few thing s wrong , was willing to live with fixing props, windlass , some canvas issues, but I have not had good experience with remans, and would want to put new crate engines in, as well as needing new v drives
i figured around 8-10k for each engine and another 3-4 for transmission, then new risers 2k
+ labor ,
and then try and fix all the rest i might as well look at a boat for the same money with less issues

now as far as offering the survey up for sale, how do i go about that. I would like to recover some of the cost as I have spent on 2 surveys this season both boats failed

So thanks to all of you who have helped me with diagnosing some of the issues on the boat. I have definitely learned alot about this model boat, and now know what to look out for. Hopefully another one (1996 + ) will show up on my radar in my price range, less all the issues of this one.

You need to look for another boat. I do not like loose cleats and wet internal areas. Keep the slip and make it your duty to fill it this spring. It is a buyers market. Take advantage of it..

Tell him to give you $10,000 to take it off his hands.

Silver,

Since the 330 Dancer was one of sea rays most popular, there will be others. Is your marina full? You can't get a slip in June or July, after you find the boat? I know by me, there are a lot of slips available. You may also find one currently with a slip you can use for the balance of the searson. Keep looking and Good luck.

not sure if it full, but I am going to check in with him, to see if they don't fill up my deposit is not lost, my problem is that my price range is a bit low for that boat from the ones I have seen online. if anyone knows of someone looking to get out of boating and they own that boat, send them my way
:)

FYI, Jasper Long Blocks on ours with some other maintenance work cost $16K+. If the one you insepected checks out otherwise, give him 20K and put Jasper Long Blocks in her. Strong solid engines.

greg,

it says 1995, but the pictures look like the 1996 model year, i did not know that they had that style for 95.
PM me i might be interested

I know Greg and Amy Robinson. Good people. The boat is immaculate. He is anal about maintenance and what he can't perform, he hands to a Merc mechanic. We use the same mech as well. PM / e-mail me if you need more details about the boat.

Larry......If your talking about the radar arch......I believe it was a mid year production change in 1995.....to make a forward facing arch.

I had a (late) 1995 ....330DA.....we LOVED the boat....it also had a forward facing arch.

NICE lookin boat !!!

I took a look at gregs boat on line and it is awesome, unfortunatly my wallet can't go that high. I did however talk to my marina, and if they don't sell out of slips, and i find a boat mid season, they will apply deposit towards slip, so it won't be a complete loss, so I will keep looking

At 35K for a 330 sundancer you are going to get what you pay for....

I have a 1997 that I love and will unload for 65K, would love to move up...

Leigh.....

We had a 95 330DA... we also loved it...and wanted to move up. We went for a 95 370DA.....what a great step up.....tons of more space....the wider beam was the key !!!

Good Luck in your search.........

lsilver,

What are your intended uses for the boat and how many folks will you be carrying? The express is an alternative to the DA. Much nicer weight displacement as well.

want to use it to buzz up and down on the delaware river with some over night trips, down to chesapeake. have wife and kids, so wanted the full cabin + air and gen. like the layout of the 330. was originally looking at the silverton 310, as that has a great layout as well for a 32 but very worried about the gas tank issue on that boat.
I had a deal on a chris craft 32 crowne, but when I went to survey, the boat was supposed to be duo props, but turned out to be SX's instead told seller to adjust price, he did not want to so I walked. I then happend on the deal on the 330 and checked it out it looked good on the surface ..... but we all know how that went. I'm on two strikes this year, hopefully I can find something
within my budget. it is a buyers market and boats that i would not normally be able to afford are now potentially in my reach, so cross your fingers, and hopefully I can find something.

Just as an FYI to anyone looking for a 330, the one in Jersey City, nj Has motors and transmissions on thier way out....
