OK here is the situation with my head. 3 year old fixture using fresh water to flush. Holding Tank is empty and when flushing you get a loud (much louder than normal) sound of the macerator and at the end of the cycle it wants to send a small tornado of liquid about 5" high. It still works and carries the waste away but this new sound and behavior is concerning. Any ideas. BigGrin

I'd think there's something caught in the macerator... paper towel, sanitary napkin, etc. If you can ignore it long enough it may self-destruct and go away, otherwise you'll have to take the thing apart.

How old are the hoses?

Do you have any dips in the hoses under the floor.

I had a hose just about clogged up except for a pencil thick hole in the calcified mass that was in the hose where it took a dip down.

Urine will calcify in the hose like a rock.

Thanks for the comments thus far, I think I'll pour some vinegar into the head and let it soak for a day or so in case it's getting plugged with calcium buildup. The hose is 3 years young and all joints and surfaces look dry and clean. I guess it could be a foreign object but things still seem to work fine (other than noise and the little tornado) she still takes what she is given so I'll leave alone untill something gives. Again thanks to those who commented. BigGrin

I am looking at replacing my PheII with a Jabsco Silent Flush. Are they silent?? I am trying to decide between the house hold style or the boat style any comments

They're pretty quiet, because they flush with pressurized fresh water from your onboard water pressure system; they don't have a pump bringing in outside water - so the sound level is proportionately lower.

Household vs. marine refers to the size of the bowl and seat - nothing else. The household size approximates the size of a toilet seat at home; the marine size is much smaller. With the household size being larger, check to be sure you have enough room for it. If you do, go for it - you won't be sorry!

OK, Update on my sick Jabsco. The Vinegar did not work. Same noise and little tornado of water. Looks like I am pulling the Macerator Motor off to see if anything is wrapped around the unit. Wish me luck. I have never had to disassemble this unit before..BigGrin

Final update on my toilet repair. When I pulled the unit apart I found it clogged with baby wipes. (We had guests onboard a few weeks ago). The removal was simple but I needed to replace the O ring and that had to be ordered. Now I have spares and all is right with the toilet world, Thanks again to all those who offered comments.
