July 4th fireworks in Patchogue Bay

I undersdtand that there will be a fireworks display on the bay this July 4th. Does anyone have any further details or suggestions for good anchoring locations to watch the fireworks? I'm a little leery about running the boat in the dark; I've never done it, so I'd like to do some dry runs in daylight and plot a couse on the GPS. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks. Hy

I don’t want to sound negative, but every time I have gone to an event like a scheduled firework display on the water, it was an A$$/H act. The last couple of years, I simply pulled our boat out and went about ¼ mile either east or west of the RM bridge and had enough local fire works to keep us amused. No it was not a Grucci or Macy’s quality view but it was ok and a lot safer… This is just IMHO.

I think this year there will be a F/W display around Bayshore...
