The 2nd day of my 1st trip to the keys will place me in the upper keys from an overnight stay at Pecks Lake, I am calculating about 90 miles, (please chime in if you have made this run). At 22k cruising this run is my worse leg and I am hoping to find a mooring buoy in the upper keys. My third night will be in a Marina at Elliotts (to wane off the divorce that will probaby come after the trip) The web site Reef Relief shows the buoys but there seem to very few. Can anyone share how plentiful these buoys are, how they work in all wind condition and directions, how far apart they are(don't want to wind up next to Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson) After taking the advise of others I bought Chapman's Guide, after reading the anchorage chapters I am now doubting my abilities to know if I'm set good enough if the wind should kick up or switch. I feel like the whole trip will be more relaxing if I can count on a buoy.
