We're headed down next week for some fun on the boat, and are thinking of spending a night or two away from the home port.

Any recommendations on kid-friendly marinas in the Upper Bay area? We were thinking of heading over to Fairlee or Still Pond on Monday evening, but wouldn't rule out other nearby destinations.

Would welcome any suggestions. Thanks!

Skipjack Cove on the Sassafras is kid, dog and family friendly. Pool, tennis and basketball courts, playground, restaurant, clean and air conditioned restrooms.

Mike, many thanks. After lurking in here for a few years, I've come to view you as the upper Eastern Shore guru. I appreciate your input, and will check SC out.

We are also considering Great Oak Landing at Fairlee for an overnight either Monday or Tuesday evening. Anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks for the support but I just a slouch who has been hangin' around the Upper Bay for a while. Let me know if you plan to get into Still Pond and maybe we'll share a brew.

Great Oak is a huge marina with all the facilities but its a bit too big and too busy for my taste. The cove outside the marina is crowded with boats (family friendly and otherwise) most nice weekends. Jellyfish Joel's Beach Bar is adult fun. The first time we cruised though the cut and past the anchorage to get to Great Oak my wife commented that it was like crossing an busy US-Mexico border crossing.

We will be at Great Oaks on wed, thurs next week. The rest. dosen't open till Thurs, and there isn't much other choice, but if ya come Wed. I have a guy coming with a pig roast. Our club will be there, but numerous anchored so plenty of dock space. Dockmaster is Donnie. $1.25/ft on weeknights. par 3 golf course for everyone, so good fun for the kids. If you have never been in there//follow the markers, and believe in them, even though it looks like you can touch the shore.

Thanks for all the replies! If we get to Great Oak, it will probably be Monday or Tuesday evening (hoping to avoid the weekend crowds). After talking it over, we may also try Skipjack Cove for a night.

Mike, I don't know if we'll do Still Pond this go 'round, but I will definitely remember the invite for a brew the next time we are there. I appreciate the information.

Bill

Well, we didn't make it as far north to visit the Sassafras, but we did spend some time exploring Still Pond for the first time (beautiful, Mike!); then overnighted at a very quiet Great Oak Landing.

Wednesday, had the pleasure of meeting
Dusty on Moon River as he was arriving, and we were leaving. All in all, a nice overnighter, and the kids didn't kill each other!
