This is boating related, thus here rather than NBR.
There is some kind of fish, we assume to be a Carp, knocking on the bottom of our boats at our marina here on the Tenn Tom. These fish are eating the fresh water algae that has grown on our hulls from not moving the boats enough.
I have seen the fish(s)in action. The one that I saw was about 15" long and was resting vertically at the water line. He would rear back his head and strike the hull with his mouth resulting in a loud knocking sound. Louder than a diver under the boat doing a barnacle job.
There are about 10 of us who are being kept up at night by these infernal fish. They are driving us all nuts, if we were not already that way, that is. If I knock on the interior of the boat the noise stops for a few minutes. The SOB is not afraid of the bow thruster...it makes him mad and the knocking gets louder. The Mississippi Fisheries department is looking into the matter but as yet have no answers.
Anyone have a clue about what to do to stop this madness.
