Does anyone have any experience with this inlet?
I have gone down to Atlantic City on the intercoastal but want to try the ocean this trip

If your destination is AC then use the Absecon inlet.

Inlet is marked fairly well.
Stay in the channels!
Water just off the coast guard station shore is 40+ deep, but 200 to 300' off the shore there are bars.
At mouth of inlet channel swings close to north shore (LBI southern tip), midway through channel shifts south.
Large shoals on left side (exiting inlet), shoals are NOT marked and are under water at High tide. Stay to south side (right side) of inlet when exiting.
If I remember corectly there is a bell bouy in approx 40' feet of water at inlets end.

Basically the inlet dog legs from the left to right, this is marked. As with any inlet use caution and pick up a current chart and tide table. Mouth can get real nasty.

seasure1:

What is your homeport? Are planning on going OUT LE inlet or coming IN LE inlet? I have been through both ways a few times this season and would be able to help either direction.

PS. Heading south on the ICW be careful around ICW 116. A few boats ran aground last weekend and they were IN the channel at low tide!!!!

dominic,
Heading out little egg to ac then back in little egg next week.

thanks in advance,
Michael

BEACH HAVEN — Two Connecticut girls boating in Barnegat Bay were injured Tuesday after the 40-foot vessel they were riding in hit a sandbar, sending them flying into a deck rail.

The girls were sitting on the bow of the pleasure craft "Hot Z" when it ran aground about noon. The pilot, 55-year-old Paul Groetzinger of New Canaan, Conn., was not in the channel when the accident occurred, State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones said.

No summonses were issued. The accident remains under investigation, Jones said.

Samantha Neville, 12, of Darien, Conn., suffered internal injuries but was expected to leave Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune in several days, Jones said.

Neville was flown to the hospital by helicopter after a boat-towing company brought her and the other victim to the Beach Haven Yacht Club.

Allison Reilly, 11, who lives with Groetzinger, was taken by ambulance to Southern Ocean County Hospital in Stafford with head and back contusions. She was later discharged.

Seven other people on board were not injured. The boat was not visibly damaged.

The sandbar was near Intracoastal Waterway marker number 116.

The water is real skinny here especially at low tide. I draw 3'6" and there are times when we have a blow out tide I won't leave the dock. You do have to stay in the markers SeaTow and BoatUS are real busy around here! Regards Bill
