I want to add a Bimini to my Edgewater 155CC center console. I'm going to need approx 60" height. Another RO has one available that is the correct width and length, but only 36" tall. (3 bow) I'm thinking I should be able to remove the current ends, use a splice and add the needed length. (It's all stainless). Then I'll just need longer straps. Does it sound like it will work, or am I missing something? TIA

Thanks, I think you're right. I'm thinking I:
- Need to find some stainless hardware that will allow me to splice the needed extra sections of 7/8" stainless
- Measure the extra length needed
- Purchase stainless four pieces stainless in the extra length needed
- Remove the existing end hardware and add extra sections
- Re-install the ends on the extensions
- Get longer straps

You might want to add some supports where the joints meet. Maybe come off the joint diagonally down to the gunwale.

Thanks! Any ideas where to find a coupling to actually make the joints between the 7/8" tube and extension? Done a fair amount of searching without finding any straight couplings. Plenty of elbows, etc, but have yet to find a straight coupling . . .

I would suggest getting the extensions welded by a local welding shop. Otherwise, you're going to have an issue of the couplings loosening up on you all the time. I have had some welding done for things added to my bimini and I'm happy that I did.

60 inches of height from WHERE?

If the bimini is mounted on the gunwales, you already have XX inches of height already.

I had the same problem on a Formula F233 until somebody pointed out the existing height.

The 60" is from the gunwales. It is a CC and I often stand when driving. The 60" plus the 12" gives me the 6' I need to be able to stand under.

DAMMIT. Unless I am missing something, you must be Andre the Giant tall.

The gunwales are about 12" above the floor. If the Bimini is 60", that puts it 72"(6') above the floor of the boat I'm standing on. I'm 5'11", so I'll have an inch or two above my head . . .

AHSO. I see now. Low gunwales.

I think the stress on the mounts may be rough. I would opt for a welded structure as well.
