I have a 1998 Mariner and the inset in the swim platform for the ladder holds water which becomes green and nasty. Has anyone tried drilling a hole or have another solution for this? It looks like if I drill a hole, it will drain into the bilge.

Mine does the same and it's a PITA. Not only does water collect at the swim platform, but the platform slopes toward the transom (slightly) and collects in the corners. It seems these swim platforms are sealed, hollow chambers that are sealed from the engine compartment - but I don't know for sure. I want to find out about them also because of any davits I might mount in the future. I will be hauling in about two weeks and I'll find out. I'll let you know if you don't find out before then.
Another idea is to contact Carver - they have been very helpful every time I've called or sent them an email. Just be sure to give them your hull id number.

Thanks, if we find out anything we will let you know! Glad to hear Carver is responsive and helpful!
