Currently I've got a Uniden Polaris DSC capable VHF mated with a Shakespeare 5225XT 8' antenna. The mount is a 4187 ratchet.
The SWR (standing wave ratio) is a paltry 3.0+ and no matter what I do...either moving radio...playing with the coax...I cannot improve the SWR. I'm not looking for a perfect 1:1...but a 2:0 would be great!
How can you match a radio to the antenna for better performance. The antenna was new from BF about a year ago. The radio was new a couple of years ago, but has been discontinued from Uniden. I'm not fussy about brand names on radios and I see folks here like Std Horizon or Icom.
