We want to stop off and maybe over night
at mattituck inlet.
I can't find recent dept reading for going
in to this inlet.
Are there any marina's or mooring's or good anchoring for over nighter.

I think the shallowest the channel is 5.5 feet
There is the Mattituck inlet marina at the end of the cannal that has a restaurant
 
That's not good I draw 4'11" maybe more depending
on crew and all other thing's,I think he also draws 5' I need to find that out.
I already suggested he stop off in port jeff or
mt.sinai and head over to CT and stop over in CT.,
before heading to block.
Does that sound better to any comments.

You can look into Clinton CT - should have 7-8 feet - cider island marina - has a good restaurant -aqua
 
A friend of mine had his boat at Mattituck Inlet Marina until this season. He draws 5'2" and was okay there, there are some other large boats also. I do remember waiting once to go out when the tide was real low, but normally it was fine.
 
The only concern I've had here is the current that flows when the tide is really moving...
 
According to Doziers, the channel is 7' deep. Matt-a-Mar marina is your best bet for transient space - it's all the way at the end of the creek.
 
Yep, definitley can be a lot of current in there which can make docking tricky.
 
The docking at Matt-a-Mar was easy enough, it was the turns in the inlet with the current. As I recall up a ways from the initial s turns into the creek there is a narrow spot that is deep where the water runs fast also. No problem as long as you mind traffic and leave room. Just be aware the water moves quickly in there that's all.
