First of all thanks to all the responses on my last posting!
I installed a used (boat) starter on my boat after my old one whent out. Now every time I start up my boat after about 15 minutes of running I see my ground wire on my battery smoking. Then if I trurn it off and try to restart I here a wining sound that comes from the starter.
I printed off wiring diagrams from this web sight and noticed that on every single engine the starter had a red wire leading to the battery, a red wire leading to the circut breaker, a yel/red wire going to the starter slave solenoid, and a orange going to the alternator. When I put the starter on I put it it on the same way it was wired before, but after looking at these diagrams I noticed there seems to be no orange wire going from the starter to the alternator.
If somebody can help me out with this problem it would save my pockets $100/hr labor charge on my blood sucking boat mech.
