I have a 1079 seaswirl with a mercuiser 470 4 cyl.
I just replace the thermostat about a month ago and abut 8 hrs of running. I was out in the bay crab fishing this weekend (first time boat has been in salt water). It ran at idle speed most of the day on sat. about 5 hrs. On sunday we whent out and set the pots. We went out and had some fun with the boat just cruzing speeds. Then we had a the coastes zoom by us and I hit there wake the boat whent airborn. So I said im done with that turned around and about 5 min. later the boat started to steam up like it was over heating. The crazy thing is that the temp guage said it was running about 140. I got the boat out of the water and when I was doing by wash down I put the ears on and the sea water part of my cooling was working right. So after all that my ? is could this be the water pump in my motor gone BAD?
