Thanks Boatbum, I have a TNT platform which I am a little worried about with the weight even though the manual say 2000 LBS limit, Mercury and the dealer say 675 LBS WET with a 5% margin of error. My swim platform generally works OK with occasional leaks :-)

To offer some contrast we have a '13 Etec 40 hp and it is great. I believe made in America as well. The 40 Merc is made in China. It's on a 13 AB and it has taken us around the Abacos and Exumas. It tows well even at 20 knots.

I can tell you that the M350 will require a davit to lift. Hopefully you have this considered. Between the engine and the dink you are talking 950 pounds. Check the transom rating as well as the davit rating.

Looking at the combined weight I disagree.

As far as Merc motors, the DHS Marine Training Center is around the corner, literally, from me. Lots of boats with 2, 3 or 4 Mercs, 2 and 4 stroke. 1 boat with 2 Hondas. Haven't seen it in a while. All Merc powered. I guess they want to get there AND get back. Starting to see more and more Mercs on offshore fishing boats around here. Yamaha is starting to have issues with some of their reliability, at least in North Florida waters.

If you mean the engine and the dinghy, yes I agree but still I am looking at 700-750 top.

Geez Pascal - that is a lot of people and weight in that sized RIB. It must have been pretty crowded and made the boat pretty awkward in the water based upon what we experienced with RIBS.

We had a 19' Nautica that could handle 10 but not too comfortable even for that size boat with a 115 Yamaha.
It had good seating for 8 and could easily handle more on the tubes but affected comfort and handling.
Here is a pic of that RIB....

Also had a Zodiac YL-420 which was about the same length but I have no handy pictures of that boat. Never tried to get more that maybe 6 in that boat due to the size. Also had a Zodiac YL-380 which was about 2.5' shorter and would carry about 4-5 adults although when adding that 5th person the boat did not want to perform at all - here is a pic of that RIB.

The larger RIB would easily carry 8 and could seat and plane with 12 but that was much larger than the 19' RIB in all aspects, length, beam, tube size, etc. Here is pic of that boat sitting behind the 9' airdeck Mercury inflatable that started this post....

Is a 15' rib confortable with 10 on board? Not really but for short rides to and from the boat it s doesn't matter... It's better than doing 2 trips and much easier than towing a centerconsole which we were planning on getting until we got th WB on plane with 10. To get to beaches or spots that are a bit further, it s easier to raise anchor and move th boat, especially now with a draft of just under 5' we can get close to wherever we need to go.
