Mercury Rib

There is a reason you never see a merc on any Yacht tender, launch, pump out boat, tow boat...

There is also a reason I don't own a yacht pretty sure it has something to do with money! I'm good with what I've got :)

I was always surprised about how many of the small and intermediate Mercury outboards were made by Yamaha.

Since we’ve shifted the thread to Dink motors I have to say that with my new setup having the engine stay on the dink all the time is a great thing!
Even though my new 25HP is ‘Light’ at 130lbs I’m now too old to screw with it, never mind the electric tilt/trim is really sweet.

The small Mercs were made by Tohatsu. Some still are.

The early 4 stroke Mercs were Yamacurys. Black paint and diff cowling.

I don't think any merc today is made by yamaha.

RE: Merc outboard
When i sold my last boat I thought i was out of boating for good and blew out my Dink, 9.9 Mec 2 stroke, As well as some other items. that Merc was a great motor and i kicked myself in the a$$ for getting rid of it, it did go to a good home of another RO. It's easy to push them up to 15hp

I still have a 9.9 in storage. Will not let that one go ever.

Thanks for selling it to me! That motor was so good that someone stole it off my dink that was on the back of my boat... Luckily, another RO here had one that he sold to me.

Probably not - but it seemed that some of these posts were talking about 'older' outboards. I know that when I pulled the cowl off on my 115 Yamaha 4 stroke next to a 115 Merc it was identical except for color.

When I am talking about small outboards I am not talking about 115's. And yes it was made by yamaha, Merc did not have 4 stroke tech then.
