All this relaxing boating sure is a lot of work.
Thought I'd post my list of projects on my 3607. If anyone has ideas/experiences that they'd like to share to help them go more smoothly, let me know.

Priority listed is a rough stab and I'm sure many will get done in a different order as needs arise/change.
No Priority just means it is too far down the list to worry about prioritizing yet.
"r2" = remove and replace

At the boat:
Priority Task
1 install windlass breaker and switch
2 fix starboard heat exchanger drip
3 splice anchor rope/chain & install in windlass
4 secure anchor line in anchor locker
5 Install deck cleat for windlass
6 r2 A/C pump relay panel (part arrived)
7 r2 main engines fuel filters
8 rebuild aft PHEII head
9 Onan genset electronic ignition conversion (parts ordered)
10 install LED lighting & switch in aft head
11 wash exterior
12 inspect stuffing boxes. tighten or repack
13 find slow leak fwd bilge (likely from fwd sink line)
14 re-glue wall carpet on bridge
15 install LED courtesy lights on bridge
16 install white LED xmas lights on aft top (Yeah, Baby!)
17 install misc interior LEDs
18 make removable brace for swim ladder to handle Randy (6'7", 350Lb)
19 buff sides
20 buff bridge
21 buff rail
22 buff hull
Done Install Windlass
Done change port engine oil
Done install LED all around light bulb
Done r2 aft shower box
Done r2 genset seawater impeller
Done rebuild upper helm steering pump
Done unwinterize A/C
Done unwinterize heads
Done unwinterize motors
Done install water hose inlet fitting
Done r2 A/C circuit on/off breaker
install fuel flow meters
r2 fuel tank senders
replace 2 broken galley drawer pulls
install holding tank monitors
install flood lights (1 rb2@gr5t each corner of top)
install new aft deck carpet
re-install vanity seat in aft cabin
new aft head
new refrigerator
trim port salon window and install (new glass it too tall)
r2 deck fuel fittings
r2 deck waste fittings
r2 dinette porthole
r2 fuel fill hoses
r2 am/fm radio
rebuild fwd deck hatch
rebuild fwd head deck hatch
rebuild fwd sink deck hatch
solar panels for charging main batteries
r2 bridge speakers

At home:
Priority Task
1 Make windlass cover
2 Make new dinette covers (3 down, 5 to go)
2 Make upper helm cover
3 Make upper helm chair cover
4 get area rugs for salon
4 Make chair covers in salon
5 Make folding table for grill (secure to railing, fold up to use)
7 Make new pass through panel for aft deck enclosure
8 Sew new eisenglass into bridge panels

One one hand, I feel fortunate that I can do all of these myself. On the other... sure would be nice to have the $ to pay someone else to do it for me. :)

Good thing you didn't have to do any deferred maintenance from the previous owner...

The heat exchanger drip should have been your first project, if that fails, you could be looking a a new engine.

Jeff, the joys of owning a late eighties boat!! Our boats are very similar and our lists very similar. I cheated on the windlass and trim tabs and wrote a check:) I just got done last Sunday installing a completely new sound system and that project was a bear but the end result is great. Now it time to put on the shine.

Good luck
Niles

Thanks for the feedback.
Just found the drip this weekend. Besides, the propulsion system doesn't have to be operational when tied in the slip. Don't plan on leaving the slip for the next few weeks anyway. :)

Actually it is a combination of a drip from a hairline crack in a joint where a FW hose connects, and seeping around the end-cap.
I'll fix the crack and remove, clean, reseal the end cap on the next visit.
Hopefully a quick job.

You oughta be able to get done with that list by, oh, October [:-mischievous]...

Hey if owning a late 80s boat is that bad, guess what my to-do list looks like on an EARLY 80s boat!!!

Re: no. 4 - secure anchor line in anchor locker - I took a length of flat mild steel, painted it, marked out two of the extra long bolts securing the windlass on the under side of the deck inside the anchor locker, drilled the steel, put a stainless steel ring around it, and bolted it into place. The bitter end of the anchor rode has an eye splice. To that I attached a stainless steel shackle. Affixed the shackle to the ring, done: anchor line secured.

Happy boat(fix)ing!

Making progress:
1 install windlass breaker and switch. *Done
2 fix starboard heat exchanger drip *Done
3 splice anchor rope to chain & install in windlass
4 secure anchor line in anchor locker. *Done
5 Install deck cleat for windlass. *Mostly done... just need someone to hold a screwdriver in 2 of the mounting screws while I tighten the nuts below.
6 r2 A/C pump relay panel. *Done. Thanks Marine Air for shrinking the screw terminal sizes so that the existing connectors would not fit </sarcasm>.
7 r2 main engines fuel filters
8 rebuild aft PHEII head *(likely will just replace instead. don't like the PHEII)
9 Onan genset electronic ignition conversion. *Done, although still other issues with the Genset.

if I made a list like that my wife would say sell it. And right now I'm replacing all of the poop hose on the boat and let me tell you all it sucks.

That's a crappy job.
I'm down to zincs and platform everything else is finished. I hope to be in for next weekend but it may take one more week to complete. I getting tiered of polishing and painting but I happy with the results.
