Molasses for Rust Removal

A bit off subject. I've got a Rusty Tank from a B&S Pulsajet Carb, 5 hp.
There's so much rust inside the tank, it's flaking off and plugging the fuel orifices.

It's inside, impossible to reach.
I'm looking for Chemical rust eaters! It seems that Molasses (1/10 with water) is almost the best, but Apple Cider Vinegar is good too.

What's your best guess?
 
Molasses works well, but it is a bit slow. But it is safe and easy to dispose of.

A mild solution of Muriatic acid works, too. ( Available where you get swimming pool supplies or hardware store ), but it is more difficult to dispose of and if you soak stuff too long, you actually cause more damage.

Once you get rid of most of the rust ( using molasses or muriatic acid ), rinse it thoroughly with clean water, dry.

If you intend to paint the surface after you dry it, use phosphoric acid ( "OSPHO", from hardware store http://www.ospho.com/ ). This converts any remaining rust ( ie: microscopic rust developed since the first treatment, as well as any missed by first treatment ) to a stable compound and prevents future rusting. After it dries, paint it.
 
My dad has used Sno-Bol toilet bowl cleaner to remove rust from items. He said it works well.
 
WHINK works well. Rinse well. Keep away from aluminum or rinse off quickly.

Like Radioactive, I usually use Ospho as a rust converter and primer after removing any loose rust as best I can . It's very effective..
 
I would also recommend Ospho. Have used it for many years.

Is slow as Molasses?
 
You need the quick-acting molasses.

I've cleaned those little tanks effectively by taking hot soapy water (but why not a molasses solution!) and adding a handful of small nuts and screws. The shake and the metal will chip the rust away. A finish with Ospho would be nice, but I didn't know about that stuff then.
 
I looked up Ospho and Whink last night. Expensive stuff for a "no-Guarentee" over the counter.
