Moonrise at "the office"

Nice pic!
Pascal, have watched your posts/pics for years. Thank you for the vicarious thrills.
Question, If you had to pick a location for a beach house in the Caribbean what would be
your first choice?

Thanks...

Depends what you want... 25 years ago I would have said st barths.... I lived there for 15 years their the 80s and till 93 and it was just paradise. Now, it's just way too busy and too crowded like most of the Caribbean. Anguilla is beautiful and I don't think has been overdeveloped. The rest of the Carib is just way too crowded... Especially the USVI and BVI. Virgin gorda is beautiful but way too many people and too many boats.

Personally if I was to settle ashore, I would look at the Exumas. It's much closer to the US than the rest of the Caribbean, it is not overrun by tourists, cruise ships and jumbo jets, and you have 100nm worth of islands to enjoy which can only be visited by private boats and small planes...

I've sailed the Exumas and agree it is a magical place in the Bahamas. Just not a fan of the humidity.

I remember there use to be a pile of ship memorabilia on the top of the tallest hill at Warderick Wells. Do you know if that tradition still continues?

Yes it does, we contribute a piece of engraved wood on every trip

It's not humid, even not in August, we re anchored off stocking island , Gtown, with a nice breeze and it's a lot more pleasant than anywhere on the east coast

That's cool. Look for a piece with SS Moonracker on it next time. I doubt it is still there, we placed it on top about 8 years ago.

It's probably there but buried under what was left since. I ve found some we left a year or two ago but older stuff is buried!

Is it just artifact from the photo, or does that nav package cause that much windshield glare?

Warderick Wells is indeed special. We were down there in '14 and found our board that we planted in '11. Compass Cay is another favorite.

It s from the spot where I took the pic. From the helm there is no glare or,reflection. That said, those big screens don't dim as much I would like. Thinking about adding red covers for night time operation

Red might not work very well. Much like when you shine a red light on a paper chart and you loose detail due to the red color of the light.

I've just used micro fiber towels/cloths or Texilene screens.

Can you flip the screens to night time mode?

No night time mode just brightness adjustment which doesn't affect all modes. For instance when using one of the screen with the FLIR, the screen returns to default brightness and can't be adjusted making FLIR useless as it ruins your night vision.

Does your FLIR allow you to pick different FLIR colors?

Mine has several display color modes. One of which is basically all red.

That is one of the draw backs to a FLIR. It can F up your night vision. Kind of a catch 22.
