On the train this morning, I noticed a sailboat up on the rocks just north of Yonkers. I called SeaTow of Haverstraw, spoke to "Walter" and gave him the information. I apologized for calling him but I don't have the USCG's phone number in my cell phone but I have his
The boat is ~30' sailboat, in good shape and not derelict (other than being on the rocks). It was facing north and on the transom I saw "MOONSHINE" but I don't know if that was the complete name or the second part of a name. I also thought I saw the nav lights on but it could be the reflection of the sun.
I'm real curious as to what happened because it was like a lake this morning and very calm yesterday. We left the boat at 7pm last night and the wind was stirring a little bit but not much. Considering this, I can't imagine how it slipped its mooring.
In any event, you have to hand it to SeaTow, Walter said he'd try calling Westchester Marine first then CG if necessary. It's comforting to know they really care about search and rescue as opposed to simply blowing me off.
