I just received the November 2007 Motorboating magazine. The cover story is a review of the new 5260. The article gave very high marks and called it "an impeccably executed yacht"

After reading this I feel a lot better even though I have been on the first model and have been getting info on the boat its nice to have an independent apprasial on the boat. Most importantly since my boat will be done Nov 15th
and even though Im excited you still never know.
One feature mentioned that I was not aware of is that if you are hooked up to shore for water you can fill your water tanks without having to use a seperate hose that is very convient.

have you ever read anything negative in these rags ?

independent appraisal ? yeah right... independent as in advertising revenues, right ?

Regal is quality oriented manufacturer so i'm sure you'll be happy with the boat but dont' trust everything you read in magazines. :-)

Pascal, I have to agree with you to a point, without revenue, no MotorBoat magazine. One cannot always believe everything he reads but it is nice to see a few things confirmed in writing by an independent appraisal. That goes for negative comments as well as positive, I've read many reports pointing out minor as well as serious flaws in more than one manufactures vessels. The article probably wasn't completely unbiased but I would like to believe it to be pretty accurate.

Or boating forums! ;)

how true... :-)

bottom line, take everything with a grain of salt... and when it comes to magazine articles - reviews, consider them advertisements.

I agree with Pascal on this one. I actually use to save boating magazines. When I finally got rid of them a couple of years ago I had at least ten years worth of each of the major ones and most of the regional ones (Southern boating for example).

Never do I recall ever reading a negative review. Now most of them send me the magazines for free and I no longer save them and don't always even read all of them but one thing for sure, there is still no negative revues.

But...my local Raymarine guy is going to Daytona next week to go over all the electronics on one that's going into the water there. He's been on them before, sea trials included, and says it's a great boat. Him I believe.
