I have an anchor that looks like one of these on this page:

It is not one of these and I think it is a cheap one. It is a 15# galvanized anchor and it looks like these. It just seems crappy and it doesn't hold my boat well at all. It is what came with it.

Can anyone make some suggestions for an anchor that is easy to use? I will be doing all of the anchoring (without a windlass) and I'll be doing it solo.

Boat is a 2004 Regal Cruiser, about 5200 lbs dry and it is about 26'. I anchor in Lake Lanier which is mostly silty clay mixed with some rocks, but not large rocks.

I would like to keep my existing hardware (anchor roller thing, 6' plastic coated rode and I believe 3/8" rope) and just add a different anchor. Is that possible or do I need new hardware with the new anchor?

I've seen a lot of boats with nice, shiny stainless anchors on the lake. I'm leaning towards the Delta quickset anchor like what is in the bottom left hand corner of this link:

Please put your two cents in with regards to how many pounds, type of anchor, etc. I'm sort of a novice as my last boat was a runabout with about a 10# mushroom anchor which worked great.

Thanks
