I need a recommendation for a good mercruiser mechanic close to Lindenhurst. Starboard engine would not get up to proper RPM - topped off at about 3200 instead of 4200. That engine has also been running 5-10 degrees hotter than the port.

I am looking for a mechanic who really knows mercruisers. I do not want someone who is just going to start replacing parts until the problem goes away.

Does anyone at the Anchorage have an opinion about the shop there?

Thanks.

IMHO......there is no one better then.... Chucks Marine Service....631-789-0755. I used him for 14 years for service on all my boats.....and now he services my motorhome....when it needs.

You can use Charlie over at C and D marine in Copaigue. He is a certified merc mechanic. Phone #631-956-3984. I have been using him for 5+ years now and have nothing but good things to say about him and his work.

I forgot to add that he regularly services boats at anchorage.

I second both Chucks.
I used Chuck for a long time, but he can't do warranty work.
If you need warranty work then you need the other Chuck, Charlie at C&D.
Both are good.

Charlie at C&D has treated me good and responds in a timely fashion. I too recommend him. Chuck has a great reputation and has been used by many here, so he too is a great choice. PS, I have know experience with Chuck, but have never heard anything but good things, Don's endorsement should speak volumes, he never steers anyone wrong.

He did ask about the shop at AYC.
Personally I have used MRD/East Shore in the past.
Had some issues but for the most part they were good.
Alot of the old mechanics are gone. I liked Jason and Peter.
I just called them to look at my bow roller repair becuase I am not paying for it so I figured it can't hurt to use this as a chance to establish a relationship there. They don't do volvo warranty work, so for engine work I have to go to C&D.

So I will provide some feedback on that. If they don't seem ok, I will go to C&D to do it. Just want it fixed right!

Chuck from Chuck's Marine is outstanding. He is not only a fantastic mechanic, and extremely honest, but he is a real nice guy too.
The problem this time a year though is trying to get a good mechanic to find time to get to you.
If they are any good they are very busy right now.

I used charlie at Crb2@gr5tD when I was at the anchorage for all 3 of my mercruiser boats. He is excellent and honest! His wife runs the shop and she is a real sweetheart! Use C&D and don't look back.

Thanks for all the feedback. I left Chuck a voicemail, and haven't heard back. I'm sure he's busy.

Got Charlie live and made arrangements with him for next week.

It helps to hear all the good feedback about him.

Rob,
Charlie has a marina in Copiague with a lift, just mentioning that in the event your boat needs to be pulled out of the water. I believe he should be able to handle a boat of your size, I know my boat is to large for him to pull, or at least that's what I heard.

Yes Walter your boat s too big for C&D's lift. Anything bigger than 13.5' beam is probably too big for C&D. My boat barely makes it width wise and I am just under 14'.

I'm only 11'6", so I should be okay. Hopefully my issue will not be major.

Thanks all.
