My wife and I are thinking about purchasing a new boat, we have a budget of around 70-80k. I'd really like to get something that will allow us to enjoy it year round, (we live in the puget sound, wa) and be big enough to be comfortable in the ocean. We will probably be mostly using it for day trips, but I'd really like to be able to spend a week on it, exploring the islands. I also really enjoy fishing, so I need some open out door room for us.
I keep going back and forth on a new or a used boat. But we currently have a 1992 maxxum 2300 and have had a lot of work / money put into it in the past six months since we purchased it. I know boats in general will have a lot of upkeep, but it would be nice peace of mind to be able to have a nice waranty on it for a few years.
I know bayliner seams to have a lot of bang for the buck, and the 285 looks like it might be a good match for us, any other suggestions or feedback on this boat?
