Hello everyone,

The carpet in our 3560 is about three years old and is starting to get brittle on the back. I assume we only got 2-3yr out of it due to the hot Florida sun beating down on it.

Our dealer is quoting around $650 for new carpet.. is this decent or should I go to a 3rd party?

Thanks,
Jason

The cockpit carpet on the Regal checklist for your boat is "estimated" at $800 as it is for my 42. We are in the same situation, 3 year carpet falling apart and will be replaced this winter. You can get "better" carpet from a third party, maybe cheaper but you have to make the template and send it in. I am probably too lazy for that and just order from Regal direct.

Yea.. I'm pretty lazy myself.. which is why I'm leaning toward going to w/ factory replacements as well. I'll probably start storing the carpet in the garage when we go extended months w/o boating.. maybe that will prolong the life another year.

I think my house batteries need replaced also.. is 2-3yr normal on them as well?

Thanks,

Jason,

I have the same thing with the carpet on my 04 3560. Which ever way you go, you will have to install the snaps on the carpet to line up with the existing snaps on the boat. I helped a friend once and it was a time consuming process.
Just this past weekend I had to use the parallel switch to start the port engine because of a weak battery. This weekend I am going to change out both starting batteries, but will wait on the house because it still seems strong.

Just a couple thoughts...

One thing you might wish to check on... our canvas guy also does carpet. You might want to get a quote from a local canvas person who does the same. I have no idea on the cost, but it might be less expensive, and you may get a better quality carpet.

No doubt you wouldn't have to worry about the snaps... (if you opt to put them in at all - as we don't have snaps in ours)

Actually our carpet was replace with plain jute back... I was going to replace it with marine grade rubber back, but a lot of folks have told me the jute back dries quicker and moisture don't become trapped under it like it would/could on the rubber backed carpet.

Also, as it ages, when they pick theirs up, they have black rubber stuck to the floor... I might have a little dust from the jute back, but not near the mess.
