It's a 11.6" Samsung chromebook. Doesn't seem to have much room inside for a lot of thingys.

What Nav programs can I put in. Gotta be something non computer old farqts can do.

Mostly I just fish along the central Ca coast for Salmon but sometimes run on out 50+ mi for tuna(Albacore). We leave 3-4 AM so it's dark. Some of the harbors have tight routes to get out, but everythings fine after we get out past the rocky coast and crab pots and kelp beds. I would like to put in close way points, Just not sure how much space it takes.

I never was any good figuring out these computer Nav programs so anything ya'll know that's simple would be a blessing.

Can it run Android apps, too? If so, we use MX Mariner and Plan2Nav.

So far the Chrome OS can only run a few newly designed Android apps. It sounds like they are trying to eventually merge the two operating systems or at least make the apps compatible but I wouldn't count on it right away. I don't believe there are any marine nav apps for Chrome OS, I think it has been mainly developed for productivity.

Isn't chrome book mostly a terminal for the cloud? No resident chart ware would be possible.

Bruce, you got mail.

You know guys, this chrome book is just getting me frustrated. It's the right size for my boat. My lowrance chart plotter is somewhere around 15+ years old. I was looking for something that I could get the 'aerial' view. I'm getting the feeling that the chromebook ain't it. Had it 3 days now.

Bruce, looking at your thread, I looked at the active captain...it has a chrome play thingy for active captain. Gonna download it with the chromebook.

What about the google earth and some kind of chartware?

Pretty much Bruce, at least that is what my techs tell me.

I downloaded Active Captain on the chromebook and it went on my cell phone.

If it ain't specifically designed for chromebook it doesn't even download but gets directed to any android on the network.
