Any recommendations?

We stayed at Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina last time. Was decent.

Is that the best place or are other's better?

Looking to go in August, then to Block.
 
We stayed there last year. It is completely renovated, the dock master is great. There is an outdoor pool and a nice BBQ area. It's not in the middle of town, but easy walk to anywhere.

I highly recommend it, it's where we will stay when we go back to Newport.
 
Hogan where did you go last year? This is the place I went to last year and it has an indoor door and it is right in town? I really enjoyed it and would return again. I would check the weather a little closer when leaving next time that was the worst trip I had to date just and I was only heading to Montaulk a short trip in 8' seas and dense fog not a good combination!
 
You stayed at the Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina, we used to stay there.

We stayed at the Newport Marina, which has an outdoor pool and is all brand new.
 
That's what I said check his original post? Unless it was edited I stayed where he asked about with the indoor pool in town.
 
We've stay here: http://www.bowenswharf.com/ a couple times. We like the location and the dock master (Alex) is very accommodating and helpful. The one time he didn't have room for us he went out of the way and made calls to find us an alternate. HTH
 
have stayed at Newport Harbor Hotel & Marina, Bowens, Newport Yachting Center and Bannisters...no real preference as all are right in the center of the action in town. Few weeks ago was Bowen's and agree that Alex was excellent, you get the full hotel amenities at the Hotel & Marina, and the Yachting Center is the only one that offers a Boat US discount...Bannisters was a little tight getting into and they put us in a slip under a shack up on pilings called the bird nest or something like that and of course had to deal with some pigeon crap from that. The Hotel and Yachting Center tend to have a little more privacy as the other two are flanked by very active restaurants and bars. Think all are about the same price other than the discount at the yachting center. Love Newport, enjoy.
 
FYI, most of the marinas mentioned and a few more that weren't are on the new DOCKWA app...we had signed up for the app earlier this year and used it on our last trip to Newport. We were coming in the Friday of Memorial Day weekend, and instead of numerous calls and waiting for call backs, I punched in the dates got an estimated price and usually a response within an hour...after 2 rejections Bowen's Wharf acknowledged availability...was pretty slick.
