",any ideas where to start"

Yes, give us some information.

It it a heat pump?

What pump is it that does not run?

It it resistance heat?

Is anything running, fan? compressor?

Have you checked pressures?

What have you tried?

What are your observations other than no heat?

What type of unit.
Sometimes heat is turned off in the programming side to prevent heat from going on during cool summer nights.
Could be set for cooling only.

FWIW?-
A quick online search of " Marine air 16,000 BTU , no heat " returned a clubsearay post about the same problem .

It indicated no-heat issue is apparently most often caused by a stuck reversing-valve.

It was mentioned Marine Air suggests tapping the valve with a mallet may free it up (assuming you can find it.) Reversing valve replacement if necessary may involve un-sweating 4 copper fittings, then the reverse with the new part in place.

It was also noted a failed water pressure switch could cause no heat, but the switch could be bypassed with a jumper for temporary heat.

I believe everything would turn on but would not create heat. We don't have enough info to even render a guess as to what the problem is. There are many things to check and test but we need a starting point as to what is and isn't happening first. Such as if you set it to cool and drop the temp does it turn on and cool? Is it even set to heat when you are trying to get heat? Did you check all breakers and the reset on the unit itself. What is the model of the unit in question is it only an AC unit are you sure it has a heater option? The more info the better to trouble shoot.

Good reason to run the heat once in a while even in summer.
