I've seen pictures of the devastation on the South Shore and heard the horror stories on this forum (and elsewhere). I'm wondering how other people fared on the North Shore or across the sound in CT, and what type of storm prep was done for the boats. If some suffered damage, maybe we can learn from this.
My boat was moored about as deep in Northport Harbor as can be (by the Scudder Beach ramp). I threw extra lines on and took down the bimini and radio antenna. Other than a snapped mooring line, the boat came away unscathed.
I chose to leave it in the harbor rather than have it hauled for two reasons. First, the marinas in the area are very close to the water. Second, i was concerned about the large trees around our property (ours and our neighbors). As it turns out, the trees are still standing (can't say the same for some trees just one or two blocks away, though).
So, how did others fare on the North Shore and what would you differently next time?
