Thinking about taking the boat to OCMD and looking for some local knowledge on ramps, marinas, anchorages, restaurants, etc. Thanks in advance!!

Bob,

Second hand information here, but OC isn't the best boating destination. There's not a lot of boat-friendly restaurants or anchorages. If you want to base your stay on your boat, you'd probably do better sticking to the Chesapeake.

Bob, we took our previous boat, a 280 Sundancer to OC several times by trailer. The have very nice ramps and parking right near the inlet and marinas. We liked to stay at the White marlin marina cause it was a few short blocks from the boardwalk, very centrally located. We have two kids and they love going to OC on the boat. We would go out the inlet and fish, once they had the boat races there and we watched from the water. There are a few places to tie up to and eat on the western side of the bay or further up the bay, but we tended to use the boat as a place to stay or go out in the ocean. Overall we always had a very nice time trailering to OC and hanging out near the boardwalk.

Hey Bob, not sure if you made it down to OC or not but we keep the Dream Catcher (Carver Mariner) there for the summers - actually found two really nice marinas right inside the inlet - OC Fishing Center and Sunset Marina - both have weekly slips available - great accomidations with pool, bath house, food and cleaning (wash/Dryer) - you can walk over the bridge 15 minutes and be at the end of the boardwalk. Both are next to the city bus hub but walking is easiest. Not sure when "mixman" was last there. We only draw 30" water so we can hit the back bays and of course you have Assateague Island there with the horses on the island. Acually, a great little town with no issues from gambling.

What do you guys do with your trailers once your boats are on the water ?. Where do you keep them?.

We left our 32 ft triple axle trailer at the marina just down the street (in a dirt parking lot acorss the street). I forget the name, but it was something like $10 per day. You cannot leaveyour trailer at the lauch ramps over night.

Our Mariner stays in the water but there is a public launch right next to Sunset Marina (www.ocsunsetmarina.com) and a public parking lot within 1/4 mile that I've seen trailers at. Both OC Fishing Center (www.ocfishing.com)& Sunset Marina have parking space if you decide to rent a slip from them. Both offer an excellent location to the boardwalk, inlet, back bays and RTE 50.

Public Ramp - O.C. Commercial Harbor, 12806 Sunset Avenue, West Ocean City
