I have a 1994 7.4L Mercruiser that has a slow gear lube leak from the sea water pump. I've pulled the pump assembly off, since its time to change the impeller anyway. I believe the leak is coming from the front seal on the housing assembly, behind the pulley. To pull the pulley, the shop manual recommends a Kent-Moore special tool. Would a standard pulley puller (i.e. 3-prong) be ok?
Once I pull the pulley and confirm that the leak is in the front oil seal, I'll replace it. But, the shop manual says to use a "mandrel" to put the new seal in. I've done some searching, but can't figure out what this mandrel looks like, or where to find one. Any suggestions?
BTW, the oil seal is part number 19 in this diagram: http://tinyurl.com/rscs7
Thanks
